What is Plastic-Free July?
Since 2011, #PlasticFreeJuly, which aims to raise awareness about the amount of plastic in our lives by encouraging us to refuse the use of single-use plastic products in July, reminded us again this July to make room for environmentally friendly and sustainable content in our lives.
What is Plastic-Free July?
Plastic Free July, an initiative of Perth, Western Metropolitan District Board (WMRC) in Western Australia, emerged as a local community idea in 2011, but a year later it attracted the attention of other states and started to be celebrated around the world in 2013. The main purpose of Plastic Free July is to encourage people to stay away from single-use plastics as much as possible throughout July and to raise awareness on a global scale. In this context, organizations are held every year, with the participation of speakers from different parts of the world who have a voice on the environment.
Plastic-Free July asks us to save the world, but the role we have to take individually is less extensive. Recognizing the single-use plastics that we can't even think of and replacing them with sustainable products. If we cannot completely remove the disposable plastic, which we realize its place in our lives, in the first place, to try to use the product several times. Do not forget that the planet does not need a few sensitive people, but the whole world needs to take steps by being aware of plastics, even if they are defective!
Plastic Free July has no "must have" bans and rules. His only expectation from us; focusing our lives on issues such as waste, nature, and sustainability; review Questioning what you can do better and whether there are different ways to show your respect and love for nature. Trying and not giving up, even though it may be difficult at first.
Products that are completely eco-friendly and respectful of the planet may be new to you, but by the end of July you will see that these products and designs are everywhere. If you want to wink at Plastic-Free July with a change in your home decoration, you can take a look at our 100% vegan and nature-friendly Mushroom Coffee Table and the world's first recycling method, Terrazzo top table coffee table designs.
Mushroom Tables can accompany you in your mini coffee corners, or they can be ideal elevations for staggering your plants. Terrazzo Coffee Tables, on the other hand, can be personalized with the particle and concrete color you want and accompany your new habits and your new plastic-free life.
So How Can We Adapt Plastic-Free July to Our Lives?
Some of the small actions we can take are not to use straws, to take your cloth bag for shopping, to shop in bulk rather than individually, to use flasks instead of plastic bottles…
In addition to these, shopping from local brands and tradesmen in your neighborhood will make it easier for you to reach higher quality and healthy content as you can reach the producer directly.
Although Plastic-Free July is about changing our own habits and behaviors, a small share you make can also touch the lives of others.
As GROB, we wish you a July where you will “recognize, change and share the change”!
